The Tsuki Saga

A Merciful Cell?

Outside they could hear loud banging and crashing noises, screams, and shouts from many voices. Thunder clapped above the castle as magicians went to work. The noise was horrendous, as if a thousand dead things were fighting a thousand living things on the plane between death and life. The doors at either end of the room, made of what looked like silver-coated steel rattled in their fastenings. Gusts of hot, cold, red and black air filtered in under the doors causing the party to be hot, cold and scared all in turn.

The room was a plain one; its furnishings were limited to a few small rickety looking chairs and a moth-eaten rug. The walls were the same silver-colour of the doors, both doors being fastened with six different locks of many types; some made of silver, some iron, one made of some kind of vegetable. There was a small cupboard with a few odds and ends in it, including a bottle of wine and a piece of mouldy cheese. They sat together in a corner and waited for Tsuki's return.

Outside, above them a war was raging. Tsuki and her half-brother were embroiled in a fight, alongside them stood the fairy, Leyenna, and a few other 'family members', the twins from the kitchens and Stanley and Sidney. Opposing them was a family of evil looking magicians.

Shalnek noticed a small mirror in the corner. When he looked into it he realised that he was seeing the battle above. They gathered around the mirror, this is what they saw: The castle was in the background; the fighting was taking place on the front lawn. A hoard of undead were swarming towards the castle's inhabitants, their arms raised in defiance as they attacked the small defending group. Okami shifted his shape to that of a wolf and leapt at the oncoming forms. Stanley and Sidney burst into flames and began to hurl flame-balls at the hoards. The fairy sang a hail and thunderstorm onto the wizards at the edge of the woods. Mann and Calder were brandishing huge broadswords, four between them, and charged, in their clumsy way, at the zombie masses. Ginny was in a small lookout room above the front entrance, shooting arrows from a small window at anyone who came too near to the door. A creature they had not yet met, who looked like a dwarf, was swinging a huge iron mace around his (or her) head. Tsuki was the only one who appeared not to be fighting. She was gazing up to the sky. Suddenly the hoard disappeared, and the wizards fled into the woods. The small force gathered back together and then headed for the dining hall. Tsuki went to the vault and knocked on the door. "Anarlentian!" she said, in a voice as strong and clear as ever before. Startled, Shirrol pulled the door open and allowed her in. she looked around. Her hair was black and her eyes had returned to their former blue-green colour. She half-smiled at them and asked for the mirror. They handed her it. Then she led them to the hall.
