The Tsuki Saga

Why Are We Waiting?

A day passed and the defenders began to fidget. There are only so many things to do in one tiny piece of castle. It was like being shut inside on a summer's day because you have a cold. Infuriating, disheartening and boring.

About midday on the second day, during Shalnek's watch, a figure appeared on the edge of the woods. He woke Tsuki, who rang the bell and then gazed out of the window just as he did. A lone figure, clad in grey, was walking with unremarkable speed across the grassy front lawn, avoiding the few holes made by the previous escapade. He got about half way before he drew a white flag from under his cloak. He held it above his head. He got to about a hundred yards from the castle's main door and hollered up to the window where Tsuki was sitting: "We know you are there Tsuki! You can not hide forever. Come down and talk so we may end this without bloodshed!" "Hmph!" Tsuki said quietly to Shalnek and the newly arrived Stanley. "That's not what they want, this sounds like a trick. But I must go. Shalnek, you must not let them harm Ginny. If I don't return then you and my brother must protect her. Stanley let Kinella know she is to come up here and take charge. Tell Okami he is in joint charge. He will let her command anyway. If I don't come back, don't come after me." She sent Stanley with his message and then looked at Shalnek again. She took off a bracelet she was wearing around her arm. "Here," she handed it to Shalnek, "this is a bangle of protection, it will help you to survive." Then she swiftly left and headed out to the flag bearer.

Tsuki walked down the grass verge towards the messenger. As she reached him there was a huge puff of smoke and a crash like thunder and she vanished. Shalnek gasped, Kinella, who had just arrived, gasped also. They looked into the mirror, and willed it to show Tsuki. It showed her standing right where she should have been, yet they couldn't see her.
